    • Ο σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής είναι να φωτίσει το θέμα των αναγκών των καθηγητών και πιο συγκεκριμένα να επικεντρωθεί στις ανάγκες των καθηγητών που εργάζονται σε Κέντρα Ξένων Γλωσσών. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, η εργασία αυτή διερευνά τις εκπαιδευτικές ανάγκες και τις ανάγκες κατάρτισης των καθηγητών των ΚΞΓ. Αυτή είναι η πρώτη απόπειρα στην Ελλάδα να διεξαχθεί έρευνα σε σχέση με τις ανάγκες των καθηγητών που εργάζονται στα ΚΞΓ. Η εργασία επικεντρώνεται στην προσπάθεια της εξερεύνησης και εντόπισης των αναγκών, μετά προσπαθεί να βρει εάν αυτές οι ανάγκες σχετίζονται με την εξέλιξη των καθηγητών ή/και την κατάρτισή τους και τέλος ψάχνει να δει εάν οι ανάγκες αυτές λαμβάνονται υπόψη από τους ιδιοκτήτες των ΚΞΓ. Είναι μια εργασία μικρής έκτασης η οποία βασίζεται σε δεδομένα που συλλέχθηκαν από τις απαντήσεις 174 καθηγητών που διδάσκουν την αγγλική σαν ξένη γλώσσα, χρησιμοποιώντας την ποσοτική μέθοδο και ένα διαδικτυακό ερωτηματολόγιο. Τα αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι οι ανάγκες των καθηγητών είναι και εκπαιδευτικές και έχουν σχέση με την κατάρτισή τους. Αν και υπάρχουν ανάγκες για σεμινάρια και εργαστήρια, οι ανάγκες είναι βαθύτερες και σχετίζονται με την εξέλιξη των καθηγητών. Στο τέλος, είναι φανερό ότι τα ΚΞΓ γενικά λαμβάνουν υπόψη τις περισσότερες από τις πρακτικές ανάγκες των καθηγητών και τους προμηθεύουν με το υλικό, τον τεχνολογικό εξοπλισμό που χρειάζονται και τους δίνουν feedback. Από την άλλη πλευρά, δεν δείχνουν να είναι σε θέση να καλύψουν την ανάγκη για περαιτέρω εκπαίδευση, και δεν κατανοούν την ανάγκη για συνεχή επικοινωνία με τους καθηγητές τους και συνεργασία σε όλο το φάσμα των εκπαιδευτικών δραστηριοτήτων.
    • The purpose of the present dissertation is to shed light on the area of teachers’ needs and more specifically to focus on the needs that teachers who work in Centres of Foreign Language in Greece have. In particular, the dissertation investigates the educational and training needs of teachers who work in CFL and it is the first attempt of its kind in Greece. The focus of the dissertation is to try and identify the needs of the teachers, then investigate whether these needs are related to teachers’ development and/or training needs, and lastly to discover whether these needs are taken into consideration by CFL owners. It is a small-scale survey which is based on the data collected from the responses of 174 EFL teachers using the quantitative method and employing an online questionnaire. The results revealed that teachers’ needs are both educational and training. Even though there is a need for seminars and workshops, teachers’ needs go deeper and they are related to teachers’ development. Eventually, it becomes obvious that CFL generally take under consideration most of the practical needs that teachers have by proving them with materials, technological equipment and feedback. On the other hand, they do not seem to be able to provide for further education, nor do they seem to understand the need for constant communication and co operation with their teachers across the board.
