    • <p>The following thesis aims to investigate the role of NGOs in the protection of refugees and asylum seekers. It concerns a case study in the prefecture of Ioannina. NGOs play a very important role in addressing issues related to human rights, health, education, environment and social justice, representing the interests of vulnerable groups. Greece, as a country of first reception, was faced at the beginning of the refugee crisis (2011) with several challenges and was called upon to face them without being ready as a state. Nevertheless, it managed to achieve significant results and today it has developed stronger mechanisms to deal with the refugee issue. Ioannina was and is one of the cities that accepted and accepts a large number of refugees and asylum seekers. Several NGOs are active in the prefecture such as Solidarity Now, INTERSOS, the Epirus Youth Center and other organizations that provide their services mainly in the fields of education, housing, health and legal support. For the investigation of the subject, the mixed type of research was applied with the method of semi-structured interview, with open-ended questions, and questionnaires. All data were collected and analyzed in depth. The interviews were transcribed and recorded in detail. Finally, the main points of the work are presented based on the literature and the opinions of the researcher.</p>
    • <p>Η παρακάτω διατριβή στοχεύει στη διερεύνηση του ρόλου των ΜΚΟ για την προστασία των προσφύγων και των αιτούντων άσυλο. Αφορά μια μελέτη περίπτωσης στον νομό Ιωαννίνων. Οι ΜΚΟ διαδραματίζουν πολύ σημαντικό ρόλο στην αντιμετώπιση ζητημάτων που αφορούν τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα , την υγεία, την εκπαίδευση, το περιβάλλον και την κοινωνική δικαιοσύνη, εκπροσωπώντας τα συμφέροντα των ευάλωτων ομάδων. Η Ελλάδα ως χώρα πρώτης υποδοχής βρέθηκε αντιμέτωπη στις αρχές της προσφυγικής κρίσης (2011) με αρκετές προκλήσεις και κλήθηκε να τις αντιμετωπίσει χωρίς να είναι έτοιμη ως κράτος. Παρόλα αυτά κατόρθωσε να επιτύχει σημαντικά αποτελέσματα και σήμερα έχει αναπτύξει ισχυρότερους μηχανισμούς αντιμετώπισης του προσφυγικού ζητήματος. Τα Ιωάννινα ήταν και είναι μια από τις πόλεις που δέχτηκε και δέχεται μεγάλο αριθμό προσφύγων και αιτούντων άσυλο. Στον νομό δραστηριοποιούνται αρκετές ΜΚΟ όπως είναι η SolidarityNow , η Intersos Hellas , το κέντρο νέων Ηπείρου και άλλες οργανώσεις που παρέχουν τις υπηρεσίες τους στους τομείς κυρίως της εκπαίδευσης , της στέγασης, της υγείας και της νομικής υποστήριξης. Για την διερεύνηση του θέματος εφαρμόστηκε ο μεικτός τύπος έρευνας με την μέθοδο της ημιδομημένης συνέντευξης ,με ανοιχτού τύπου ερωτήσεις ,και των ερωτηματολογίων. Όλα τα δεδομένα συλλέχθηκαν και αναλύθηκαν σε βάθος.&nbsp; Οι συνεντεύξεις απομαγνητοφωνήθηκαν και καταγράφηκαν αναλυτικά. Τέλος, παρουσιάζονται τα κύρια σημεία της εργασίας με βάση τη βιβλιογραφία και τις απόψεις του ερευνητή.</p>
