    • ΑΝΑΒΟΛΗ ΑΝΑΡΤΗΣΗΣ ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΚΟΥ ΑΡΧΕΙΟΥ ΔΙΠΛΩΜΑΤΙΚΗΣ ΕΡΓΑΣΙΑΣ ΕΩΣ ΤΟΝ ΑΥΓΟΥΣΤΟ ΤΟΥ 2022. Η παρούσα εργασία μελετά τη μετάφραση της λογοτεχνίας που απευθύνεται σε παιδιά. Για να διασφαλιστεί η συνοχή και η σύνδεση μεταξύ της θεωρίας και της πρακτικής, το πρώτο μέρος της εργασίας περιλαμβάνει μια θεωρητική πλαισίωση που αφορά τόσο τη μετάφραση καθαυτή (εξετάζοντας μέσω της υπάρχουσας βιβλιογραφίας τις διάφορες αντιστικτικές προσεγγίσεις και πρακτικές), όσο και τη μετάφραση της παιδικής λογοτεχνίας πιο συγκεκριμένα. Κύριο σταθμό αποτέλεσε η σημαντική διάκριση μεταξύ των δύο πλευρών που υποστηρίζουν την κατά λέξη μετάφραση από τη μία, και την πιο ελεύθερη απόδοση από την άλλη, η οποία στοχεύει περισσότερο στη μεταφορά της "αίσθησης" του κειμένου, αφήνοντας το περιθώριο στους μεταφραστές να κινηθούν πιο ευέλικτα. Το δεύτερο μέρος απαρτίζεται από το δημιουργικό κομμάτι της μετάφρασης του διηγήματος "Lyra and the birds" που περιλαμβάνεται στο βιβλίο Lyra's Oxford του Philip Pullman. Τόσο μέσα από τη μελέτη της θεωρίας όσο και από την πρακτική ενασχόληση, τα συμπεράσματα που βγαίνουν, τουλάχιστον όσον αφορά τη μετάφραση της λογοτεχνίας, είναι πως η προσπάθεια μιας αυστηρά κατά λέξη μετάφρασης οδηγεί σε δυσανάγνωστα, "άχαρα" και άκαμπτα αποτελέσματα. Ενδεχομένως, μια τέτοιου είδους πρακτική να αποδίδει καλύτερα σε άλλες, πιο τεχνικές περιπτώσεις, όπως π.χ. στην εκμάθηση μιας γλώσσας ή στη μετάφραση ενός εγχειριδίου χρήσης. Όμως στη λογοτεχνική γραφή που απαιτεί το λόγο να ρέει και εμπεριέχει, αρκετά συχνά, παραπάνω του ενός νοημάτων, φαίνεται πως ο αναγνώστης έχει μόνο να χάσει, αν έρθει αντιμέτωπος με ένα τέτοιο μετάφρασμα.
    • The thesis examines the translation of literature for children. To ensure cohesion and a link between theory and practice, the first part of the thesis includes a theoretical framework on translation (which examines the various, opposing attitudes and practices through the existing literature) and moves on to apply the same examination on the translation of children's literature, more specifically. A vital aspect was the important distinction between the side that supports a word-to-word translation on the one hand, and on the other hand, the side that, in favour of a freer rendition, seeks to transfer the "sense" of the text, allowing the translators to work with more flexibility. The second creative part consists of the translation of the short story entitled "Lyra and the Birds" included in Philip Pullman's book Lyra's Oxford. Both through the theory study and the hands-on practices, the conclusions reached are that, at least as far as the translation of literature is concerned, an attempt to follow a strict word-to-word translation creates illegible, "awkward" and stiff results. Perhaps this type of practice applies better when it comes to more technical situations such as language learning or the translation of a manual. In literature, though, that demands a flowing speech and contains, often enough, more than one meanings and connotations, it seems that the reader will not be able to gain the utmost experience by reading a translation that is the product of this approach.
