    • Η συγκεκριμένη έρευνα επικεντρώνεται στο θέμα της ενδυνάμωσης των Ρομά μαθητών επενδύοντας στην ταυτότητά τους μέσω της χρήσης πολύγλωσσων προσεγγίσεων. Σκοπός της έρευνας είναι να διερευνηθεί σε ποιο βαθμό αυτές οι προσεγγίσεις έχουν ενισχύσει το κίνητρο και τη συμμετοχή των μαθητών και έχουν αναπτύξει περαιτέρω τις κοινωνικές και γλωσσικές τους δεξιότητες. Η έρευνα διεξήχθη σε ένα δημοτικό σχολείο όπου φοιτούν μόνο μαθητές Ρομά. Το σχολείο βρίσκεται εντός ενός οικισμού Ρομά. Ως αποτέλεσμα, οι μαθητές αυτού του σχολείου δεν συναντούν καθημερινά άλλους μη-Ρομά συνομιλητές εκτός από τους δασκάλους τους. Οι συμμετέχοντες στην έρευνα αυτή είναι 20 μαθητές ενός τμήματος της πέμπτης τάξης. Η έρευνα δράσης υιοθετήθηκε ως η πιο κατάλληλη μέθοδος που θα επέτρεπε στον ερευνητή να ενεργεί ταυτόχρονα τόσο ως εκπαιδευτής όσο και ως ερευνητής. Στόχος ήταν να εμπλακούν οι μαθητές σε μια στοχαστική παρέμβαση που θα αναπτύξει τις ικανότητές τους και θα τους βοηθήσει να σκεφτούν κριτικά τον τρόπο με τον οποίο μαθαίνουν και το πραγματικό περιεχόμενο της μάθησης. Τα δεδομένα συλλέχθηκαν με τη χρήση παρατηρήσεων, ημι-δομημένων ατομικών και ομαδικών συνεντεύξεων και με το ημερολόγιο του εκπαιδευτικού. Τα ευρήματα παρέχουν μια εικόνα των αναγκών και των μαθησιακών στυλ των συγκεκριμένων μαθητών, αμφισβητώντας τις παραδοσιακές μονογλωσσικές πολιτικές της ελληνικής εκπαίδευσης. Επιπλέον οι μαθητές έχουν την ευκαιρία να εκφράσουν τις εμπειρίες τους μέσα στην τάξη και να γίνουν δημιουργοί νοήματος. Τέλος, τα ευρήματα υπογραμμίζουν την ανάγκη περαιτέρω διερεύνησης καθώς και την ανάγκη κατάρτισης των εκπαιδευτικών όσον αφορά τη διδασκαλία των μαθητών Ρομά στο ελληνικό σχολείο.
    • The specific research focuses on the issue of empowerment of the Roma learners by investing on their identity through the use of multilingual approaches. The aim of the research is to investigate the extent to which these approaches have enhanced motivation and involvement of the learners and further developed their social and linguistic skills. The research took place in a primary school where only Roma learners attend. The school is located inside a Roma settlement. As a result, the learners of this school do not encounter other non-Roma speakers apart from their teachers daily. The participants in this research are 20 learners from a fifth grade class. Action research was adopted as the appropriate method that would enable the researcher to act as both as an instructor and an investigator. The aim was to engage the participants in a self reflective intervention that would develop their competencies and help them critically reflect on the way they learn and on the actual content of learning. Data was collected through the use of observations, semi-structured individual and group interviews and teacher diaries. The findings of the inquiry offer an insight to the needs and learning styles of the specific learners and challenge the traditional monolingual policies of Greek education. Furthermore, the learners are given the chance to voice their experiences in the classroom and become creators of meaning. Finally, research findings emphasize the need for further investigation and teacher training on the instruction of Roma learners in the Greek schools.
