    • Στην παρούσα εργασία εξετάζεται η αντίληψη του ιστορικού Παύλου Καρολίδη για το Μακεδονικό Ζήτημα με βάση τις δημόσιες παρεμβάσεις του την περίοδο 1898 - 1904 στο περιοδικό Ελληνισμός της ομώνυμης εθνικής οργάνωσης, και τους λόγους και υπομνήματά του ως βουλευτή της οθωμανικής βουλής την περίοδο 1908 - 1912. Ο Καρολίδης ήταν ένας σημαντικός ιστορικός της ελληνικής «εθνικής ιστορικής σχολής» που δημιουργήθηκε γύρω από τον Παπαρρηγόπουλο, ένας μη Ελλαδίτης λόγιος και πολιτικός που έθεσε τον εαυτό του στην υπηρεσία του εθνικού συμφέροντος με τη διπλή ιδιότητα του έλληνα πολίτη και του οθωμανού υπηκόου και βουλευτή. Σκοπός της εργασίας είναι να ερευνήσει πώς αντιλαμβάνεται τη Μεγάλη Ιδέα, την προοπτική δηλαδή της εθνικής πολιτικής ενότητας του ελληνισμού, σε μια κρίσιμη ιστορική στιγμή για τις ελληνικές αλυτρωτικές διεκδικήσεις, την περίοδο δηλαδή της μακεδονικής κρίσης από την εποχή της ήττας στον ελληνοτουρκικό πόλεμο του 1897 μέχρι και την έναρξη των Βαλκανικών Πολέμων.
    • The specific assignment is centred on the prominent historian named Pavlos Karolides regarding his perception of the Macedonia Issue based on the interventions he himself made known to the public, interventions dating back to the period between 1898 and 1904 in the journal «The Greek Nation» and memoranda as a member of the Ottoman Parliament between the years of 1908-1912. Karolides was an exceptional historical figure of the Greek national school of history, whose focus of interest was regarding Paparigopoulos, a non-Greek figure, a man of letters as well as a politician who commited himself to working for the protection of the national interest thanks to his double capacity this of the Greek and Ottoman citizen and that of the member of the Parliament. The aim of the assignemt is to figure out what is Karolides’ perception of the Great Idea, namely the prospect of the national political unity of the Greek Nation during a crucial historical time for the Greek not liberated claims and more precisely during the period of the Macedonian crisis from the time of defeat during the Greek-Turkish War of 1897 till the outbreak of the Balkan Wars.
