Laser Scanning – TLS) και της φωτογραμμετρίας Structure from Motion (SfM) για την

    • This thesis focuses on the three-dimensional geometric and visual documentation of the
Hubertuskapelle chapel in Düsseldorf, Germany, through the application of modern
surveying and modeling technologies. The main objective is to investigate the capabilities
of Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry in
the generation of accurate and reliable 3D models of cultural heritage structures, as well as
to evaluate the results obtained through the integration of these two techniques.
For this purpose, geometric and visual data of the church were collected using a terrestrial
laser scanner and a set of high-resolution digital photographs. The acquired datasets were
processed using specialized software to produce four different 3D models: one model
generated exclusively from SfM photogrammetry, one model derived solely from laser
scanning data, and two hybrid models created through different data fusion approaches
combining the outputs of both methods.
A comparative assessment of the resulting models was conducted based on criteria such as
geometric accuracy, completeness of the reconstruction, point cloud density and quality,
surface representation, and visual realism. The analysis aimed to identify the strengths and
limitations of each methodology and to determine the extent to which the integration of
photogrammetric and laser scanning data can improve the quality of the final three-
      dimensional representation.
The results demonstrate that both techniques provide valuable and complementary
information for the documentation of cultural heritage monuments. While laser scanning offers high geometric accuracy and reliable spatial measurements, photogrammetry
provides detailed texture information and cost-effective data acquisition. The hybrid
approaches were found to enhance the overall quality of the models by combining the
advantages of both technologies, leading to more complete and realistic digital
      representations of the studied structure.
This research contributes to the field of digital heritage documentation by highlighting the
potential of integrated surveying methodologies for the preservation, analysis, and
      visualization of historic building
