This thesis was conducted by postgraduate student Eleni Konstantinidi of the Hellenic Open University of Patras, and the program “Language Education for Refugees and Migrants” within the framework of the course “Introduction to Arabic Language and Culture” (LRM 60). The supervisor teacher of this dissertation was Dr. Theodora Zabaki. For the purposes of this qualitative research, ten semi-structured questionnaires were conducted with Arab and Greek participants, both employees and employers. The aim of this thesis is to examine the professional framework of the Arabic-speaking population in Greece. More specifically, it focuses on their absorption into and professional integration within the Greek labor market, the factors that facilitate or hinder this process, the discrimination they face on the basis of language, skin color, religion, and gender, and a comparison with the experiences of repatriated Greeks. This research demonstrates that these migrant groups experience discrimination across the entire spectrum of their professional development, starting from education and extending to job seeking, originating both from their professional environment and from the broader social support system, which acts as an inhibiting factor in the integration process.

Η παρούσα εργασία πραγματοποιήθηκε από την μεταπτυχιακή φοιτήτρια Κωνσταντινίδη Ελένη του προγράμματος “Language Education for Refugees and Migrants” του Ελληνικού Ανοιχτού Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών στο πλαίσιο του μαθήματος “Introduction to Arabic Language and Culture” (LRM 60). Η επιβλέπουσα καθηγήτρια αυτής της διπλωματικής εργασίας  ήταν η κα. Θεοδώρα Ζαμπάκη. Για την πραγματοποίηση της παρακάτω ποιοτικής έρευνας διενεργήθηκαν δέκα ημιδομημένα ερωτηματολόγια σε Άραβες και Έλληνες, εργαζόμενους και εργοδότες. Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι να μελετήσει το επαγγελματικό πλαίσιο του Αραβόφωνου πληθυσμού της Ελλάδας. Πιο συγκεκριμένα γίνεται εστίαση στην απορρόφηση και επαγγελματική τους ένταξη από την ελληνική αγορά εργασίας, στους παράγοντες που ευνοούν ή καθυστερούν την διαδικασία, στις διακρίσεις που υφίστανται λόγω γλώσσας, χρώματος, θρησκείας και φύλου και στην σύγκριση σε σχέση με τους ομογενείς. Η έρευνα αυτή αποδεικνύει ότι οι μεταναστευτικές αυτές ομάδες δέχονται διακρίσεις σε όλο το φάσμα της επαγγελματικής τους εξέλιξης, που ξεκινάει από την εκπαίδευση έως και την αναζήτηση εργασίας και προέρχεται τόσο από τον επαγγελματικό περίγυρο όσο και από την κοινωνική πολιτική, που λειτουργεί ως ανασταλτικός παράγοντας της διαδικασίας ένταξης.
