Σκοπός αυτής της διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι να αναδείξει τον μύθο του Ορφέα και της Ευρυδίκης μέσα από τους αιώνες και να εξετάσει την ερμηνεία του μέσα από την ανδρική και τη γυναικεία ματιά.
Στο πρώτο μέρος, πραγματοποιείται μια εκτενής αναδρομή στις διάφορες διασκευές του μύθου από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι τη σύγχρονη εποχή. Αυτές οι διασκευές αφορούν τον κινηματογράφο, τα μυθιστορήματα, την ποίηση, την όπερα κ.ά. Μετά την ανάλυση του μύθου, εξετάζεται η φύση της διασκευής μέσα από το έργο και την οπτική των Γιουνγκ, Vogler και Cambell.
Στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο, πραγματοποιείται ανάλυση της ανδρικής ματιάς στον κινηματογράφο, ξεκινώντας από τη θεωρία της Laura Mulvey και καταλήγοντας στην ανδρική οπτική του μύθου του Ορφέα.
Στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο, γίνεται εκτενής ανάλυση της ταινίας «Το πορτρέτο μιας γυναίκας που φλέγεται» (2019) της σκηνοθέτιδος Celine Sciamma, η οποία αναδεικνύει τη γυναικεία οπτική του μύθου και τη σύγχρονη διασκευή του. Η εργασία συνεχίζει με την εξέταση της λεσβιακής ύπαρξης, του lesbian continuum και της εξαναγκαστικής ετεροφυλοφιλίας όπως παρουσιάζονται στην ταινία, με βάση το δοκίμιο «Compulsory heterosexuality and lesbian existence» της Adrienne Rich.
Για το δημιουργικό μέρος, έγραψα ένα σενάριο για μια μικρού μήκους ταινία με τίτλο «Love me to death», που επαναπροσδιορίζει τον μύθο του Ορφέα και της Ευρυδίκης σε μια σύγχρονη υπόγεια σκηνή με υπερφυσικά στοιχεία και μέσα από τη γυναικεία ματιά.

The purpose of this thesis is to showcase the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the ages and to examine its interpretation through the male and female gaze.
In the first part, an extended retrospective of the different adaptations of the myth is made from ancient times until modern day. These adaptations concern cinema, novels, poems, operas etc. After the analysis of the myth, an examination of the nature of adaptation is made through the eyes and the work of Yung, Vogled Cambell. In the third chapter, an analysis of the male gaze in cinema is carried out, beginning with the theory of Laura Mulvey and ending with the male perspective of the myth of Orpheus. In the final chapter, an extended analysis of the film “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” (2019) by female director Celine Sciamma highlights the female perspective of the myth and its modern adaptation. This thesis goes on to examine the lesbian existence, the lesbian continuum and the compulsory heterosexuality showcased in the film, having as a base the essay “Compulsory heterosexuality and lesbian existence” by Adrienne Rich.
For the creative part, I wrote a screenplay for a short film by the name “Love me to death” that reimagines the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a modern-day underground scene with supernatural elements and from the perspective of a female gaze.
