Subject of this dissertation is “Teaching Greek as a foreign or/and second language to adult migrants and refugees: implementing and evaluating new educational material”. Main research questions of the study are: a) How do educators perceive the content of intercultural education and what characteristics do they attribute to it? b) What main principles of intercultural education need to follow any educational material for refugees or/and migrants? and c) At what degree the educational material which could be used for migrants for teaching them Greek as a second or a foreign language covers their needs (educational and non-educational)? In order to answer the above questions, the researcher conducted qualitative research using as tools observations and interviews. In order to assess the new educational material implemented Unit 2 of the material, in a Greek Non - Governmental Organization (NGO), for ten hours. The number of students that participate on the implementation is n=12 and the number of interviews is n=4. The research proves the vital principals of intercultural education and that Unit 2 of the new educational material was deemed appropriate to be used and that follows the main principals of intercultural education.
