Carillion plc was a British multinational contruction and facilities management services company heaquartered in Wolverhampton,United Kingdom. I t was a major player in the Uk construction industry,known for its large-scale projects and contracts with the public sector. However, Carillion faced significant financial difficulties and eventually went into liquidation in Januany 2018. The collapse of Carillion had a significant impact on the Uk construction industry and raised concerns about corporate governance,risk management, and the goverment's reliance on large companies for essential services.
The present dissertation in an attempt to identify the incidents that led to the downfall of such a giant company on the construction sector.Apart from the actal facts and managerial decisions which proved to be catastrophic,the empirical part of the dissertation presents the financial results of the company. More specifically, a series of financial rations are calculated using the balance sheets and the income statements of Carillion company. These ratios are required in order to calculate the Altman's Z-score which is used in the international literature as a bankruptcy prediction model and its significance in corportate risk assessment.
