Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία καταπιάνεται με την περιβαλλοντική αντιμετώπιση και αξιολόγηση νοσηλευτικών εγκαταστάσεων - νοσοκομείων διεθνώς, αλλά και ειδικά στην Ελλάδα, με παρουσίαση μελέτης περίπτωσης, το Μαμάτσειο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Κοζάνης. Μελετάται η τρέχουσα κατάσταση στα θέματα περιβαλλοντικής αντιμετώπισης και αξιολόγησης νοσηλευτικών εγκαταστάσεων, αναλύονται οι τάσεις στον σχεδιασμό και τη λειτουργία νοσοκομείων με βάση τις αρχές της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης και ερευνάται η θεωρία, αλλά και εφαρμογές του σχεδιασμού και της λειτουργίας "πράσινων" νοσοκομείων. Επίσης, γίνεται διερεύνηση, ως μελέτης περίπτωσης στην Ελλάδα, το Μαμάτσειο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Κοζάνης και κατατίθεται προτάσεις για την αναβάθμισή του. Οι προτάσεις βασίζονται στην τεχνογνωσία όπως προκύπτει από τη θεωρία, στην εμπειρία από τις εφαρμογές σε νοσοκομειακές μονάδες του εξωτερικού, αλλά και στη γνώση της ελληνικής κατάστασης, όπως αυτή διαμορφώνεται μέσα σε ένα περιβάλλον οικονομικής κρίσης, ώστε να είναι ρεαλιστικές και να οδηγήσουν με αργά αλλά στέρεα βήματα στην είσοδο των ελληνικών νοσοκομείων στη νέα εποχή του περιβαλλοντικού σχεδιασμού και της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης και στον χώρο της υγείας.
The current dissertation deals with the environmental assessment of healthcare facilities - hospitals, in an international level, but mostly in a national Greek level, including a case study, the "Mamatsio" General Hospital of Kozani. The current status in the field of environmental assessment of healthcare facilities is studied, the trends in design and operation of hospitals based on sustainable growth principals are analyzed, while there is research concerning both the theory and applications of "green" hospitals' design and operation. Moreover, there is investigation, as a case study in Greece, about the "Mamatsio" General Hospital of Kozani, and measures towards its upgrade are proposed. The proposed measures are based on the technical expertise deriving from the theory and the experience from various applications in healthcare facilities abroad. But, foremost, they are based on the profound knowledge of the Greek situation, as it is formed through an economic crisis environment, so that they can be realistic and lead in a slow but steady manner to the introduction of Greek healthcare facilities into the new era of environmental design and sustainable growth.
