    • Η εκπαίδευση για το περιβάλλον ξεκίνησε ως κίνημα τη δεκαετία του 1960, έχοντας ως υποστηρικτές στο πέρασμα του χρόνου διεθνείς οργανισμούς. Μετεξελίχθηκε σε Εκπαίδευση για την Αειφόρο Ανάπτυξη , με στόχο την Δια Βίου Εκπαίδευση των πολιτών σε όλες τις μορφές εκπαίδευσης. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία διερευνά τη λειτουργία των Κέντρων Περιβαλλοντικής Εκπαίδευσης (Κ.Π.Ε.) ως Κέντρων Δια Βίου Μάθησης για το Περιβάλλον και την Αειφορία (Κ.Δ.Β.Μ.Π.Α.) και συγκεκριμένα στην Εκπαίδευση Ενηλίκων (Ε.Ε). Για την επίτευξη του στόχου διερευνήθηκαν οι ιστοσελίδες των Κ.Π.Ε σε σχέση με τα προγράμματα ενηλίκων που υλοποίησαν, τις ομάδες ενηλίκων που παρακολούθησαν τα συγκεκριμένα προγράμματα, τις εκπαιδευτικές τεχνικές που εφαρμόστηκαν στο πλαίσιο της εκπαίδευσης ενηλίκων και τέλος τις συνεργασίες που ανέπτυξαν σε διεθνές και εθνικό επίπεδο, για την επίτευξη του σκοπού τους. Δείγμα της έρευνας αποτέλεσαν τα 13 συντονιστικά Κ.Π.Ε. ένα για κάθε περιφέρεια της χώρας όπως ορίστηκαν με τις αντίστοιχες αποφάσεις του Υπουργείου Παιδείας. Τα δεδομένα της έρευνας συλλέχθηκαν με ένα ερευνητικό εργαλείο που δημιουργήθηκε για το σκοπό αυτό, η δε επεξεργασία τους έγινε στο πρόγραμμα excel. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας δείχνουν ότι σχεδόν όλα τα υπόψη Κ.Π.Ε έχουν υλοποιήσει προγράμματα ενηλίκων για την ευαισθητοποίηση, ενημέρωση και εκπαίδευση κυρίως της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Τα προγράμματα που υλοποιήθηκαν αφορούν το φυσικό και ανθρωπογενές περιβάλλον κυρίως της περιοχής εμβέλειας και λειτουργίας των Κ.Π.Ε.. Τα συμπεράσματα αναμένεται να συμβάλουν στη συνέχιση αλλά και βελτίωση του θεσμού στην κατεύθυνση της εκπαίδευσης ενηλίκων για την αειφόρου ανάπτυξη.
    • Environmental education began in 1960 as a movement and was supported by international organizations throughout the years. It was later developed into Education for Sustainability, aiming to support citizens’ lifelong learning into every aspect of education. The present dissertation explores the function of the Environmental Education Centersas Lifelong Learning Centers regarding the Environment and Sustainability especially in adults’ education. In order the aims of the research to be accomplished, the following were researched: the websites of the Environmental Education Centers in relation to the programs that were run for the adults, the groups of adults that attended the particular programs, the educational techniques that were applied in the context of adults’ education as well as the cooperation they developed at a national and international level in order to achieve their goals. The sample of the research constitutes the 13 coordinating Environmental Education Centers, one for each prefecture of the country that was appointed with the corresponding decisions of the Ministry of education. The data of the research were collected with a research tool that was created for this purpose and were processed in excel. The findings of the research revealed that almost all Environmental Education Centers have run programs for adults about the sensitization, information and education of the local community. The programs that were run concern the natural and anthropogenic environment mainly within the area of operation of the Environmental Education Centers. The conclusions drawn are expected to contribute to the continuation and improvement of the institution concerning the adults’ education regarding sustainable development.
