    • Το σχολικό εγχειρίδιο αποτελεί το πιο βασικό εκπαιδευτικό εργαλείο, στα θεμέλια του οποίου οικοδομείται από τον δάσκαλο και το μαθητή η εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία, η διδασκαλία και η μάθηση. Τρία βασικά σημειωτικά συστήματα, ο γραπτός λόγος, η σύνθεση της σελίδας και η εικονογράφηση καθορίζουν το ρόλο του σχολικού εγχειριδίου. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία μελετά την εικονογράφηση του σχολικού εγχειριδίου των Μαθηματικών Α΄ Γυμνασίου και της σύνδεσής της με το κείμενο. Το δείγμα της έρευνας αποτελείται από 457 εικόνες. Για την ανάλυση της εικονογράφησης χρησιμοποιήθηκε ένα πλέγμα ανάλυσης το οποίο περιλαμβάνει 1. την ταξινόμηση των εικόνων ανάλογα με : α) τη γνωστική τους λειτουργία, β) το βαθμό συμφωνίας με την ανθρώπινη οπτική αντίληψη, γ) την τυπικότητα του απεικονιστικού κώδικα, δ) την περιχάραξη του απεικονιστικού κώδικα. 2. την ανάλυση της εικονογράφησης σε σχεδιαστικό επίπεδο και τη σύνδεση και συνοχή εικόνας – κειμένου. Από την ανάλυση προέκυψαν τα παρακάτω αποτελέσματα:  Ως προς τη γνωστική τους λειτουργία επικρατούν οι εικόνες παρουσίασης με μικρή διαφορά από τις διακοσμητικές και τις οργανωτικές.  Ανάλογα με το βαθμό συμφωνίας με την ανθρώπινη οπτική αντίληψη επικρατούν οι συμβατικές εικόνες.  Ως προς την τυπικότητα του απεικονιστικού κώδικα, οι υψηλής τυπικότητας εικόνες ξεπερνούν το 50%.  Ανάλογα με την περιχάραξη του κώδικα εικονογράφησης, επικρατούν οι εικόνες με χαλαρή περιχάραξη με ποσοστό τριπλάσιο από τις αντίστοιχες με ισχυρή.  Σχετικά με την οριζόντια διάταξη, υπερισχύουν οι εικόνες που βρίσκονται δεξιά του κειμένου.  Σχετικά με την κατακόρυφη διάταξη δεν προέκυψαν αποτελέσματα ταξινόμησης αφού οι περισσότερες εικόνες ήταν ενσωματωμένες στο κείμενο.
    • School books are the most basic educational element, on which the educational prpcess, teaching and learning, by the teacher and the student, are based. Three semeiotic systems, the written speech, the structure of the page and the illustration, define the role of the school book. The present dissertation examines the illustration of the school book of Mathematics for the first grade of junior high school and its connection to the text. The sample of the research consists of 457 pictures. To analyze the illustration of the school book of Mathematics for the first grade of junior high school a grid of analyses has been used which contains: 1. The categorization of all the pictures of the book depending on: (a) the cognitive function of illustration, (b) the extent to which the pictures are consistent with the human visual perception, (c) the conventionality of the pictures’ depictive code and (d) the framing of the pictures’ depictive code. 2. The illustration analysis on designing level and the connection and consistency between pictures and text. The results that have come up from the analysis are the following:  Concerning the cognitive function of illustration, the presentation pictures prevail with the slight difference from the decorative and organizational images.  Regarding the consistency of the pictures with the human visual perception, the conventional pictures prevail.  As for the conventionality (formality) of the illustration code the pictures which are characterized with high conventionality are over 50%.  Regarding the framing of illustration code, pictures with weak framing prevail, which have the triple rate than those with strong framing.  As for the horizontal arrangement of pictures, those which are on the right of the text prevail  There are no remarkable results regarding the vertical arrangement, since the most pictures are integrated into the text.
