  14. Η έρευνα στην εκπαίδευση /John Creswell
    • Η έρευνα αυτή σκοπό έχει να διερευνήσει τις αντιλήψεις εννοιών της Γενετικής και της Φυσικής Επιλογής, για πρώτη φορά, σε 305 μαθητές της Δευτεροβάθμιας Τεχνικής και Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης στη χώρα μας. Ειδικότερα, στο πρώτο μέρος εκτίθενται οι διάφορες έννοιες και οι αναγκαίοι λειτουργικοί ορισμοί που απαιτούνται για την έρευνα αυτή. Στο δεύτερο μέρος παρουσιάζεται η κυρίως έρευνα. Μέσα από αυτοσχέδιο ερωτηματολόγιο, η διερεύνηση αφενός εστιάζει στην ικανότητα διάκρισης από τους μαθητές Λαμαρκισμού - Δαρβινισμού μέσα από ένα περιστατικό της Βίβλου και των εννοιών επίκτητο και κληρονομήσιμο χαρακτηριστικό, αφετέρου διερευνώνται σε στοιχειώδες επίπεδο σπέρματα γνώσεων τους για έννοιες της Γενετικής, όπως το γονίδιο και το DNA. Στόχος μας είναι να συμπληρώσουμε το «πάζλ» του επιστημονικού αλφαβητισμού σε αυτόν το μαθητικό πληθυσμό που έχει απογαλακτιστεί από την εννιάχρονη υποχρεωτική εκπαίδευση και δεν διδάσκεται πλέον Βιολογία στον τύπο του Λυκείου αυτού. Στο τέλος του ερωτηματολογίου ζητείται η έκφραση της ικανοποίησής τους για το μάθημα της Βιολογίας κατά το παρελθόν και της επιθυμίας τους μεταξύ άλλων μαθημάτων για τη διδασκαλία της Βιολογίας στα ΕΠΑΛ. Τα αποτελέσματα δείχνουν πενιχρό επίπεδο γνώσεων και χαοτική κατάσταση στο μυαλό των μαθητών και των μαθητριών, γεγονός διαπιστωμένο και από άλλες πολυεπίπεδες έρευνες σε μαθητές στην Ελλάδα και σε άλλες χώρες. Σύγχυση επίσης έχει διαπιστωθεί και σε φοιτητές ή εκπαιδευτικούς ανά τον κόσμο στα ίδια θέματα. Η συζήτηση μετά τα συμπεράσματα καταλήγει στην ανάγκη ολιστικής αντιμετώπισης του προβλήματος και λήψης μέτρων τόσο στο επίπεδο των άψυχων μέσων - βιβλία, περιεχόμενο, αναλυτικά προγράμματα, τεχνολογία, άτυπη εκπαίδευση - όσο περισσότερο στη διεπαφή όλων αυτών με μαθητές, εκπαιδευτικούς και όλους τους εμπλεκόμενους στη διαδικασία της μάθησης
    • The purpose of this research is to look into the level of knowledge and understanding of concepts in both fields of Genetics and Natural Selection. The research in question was carried out among 305 students attending the Technical and Vocational Education in Greece. More specifically, in the first part different concepts and the necessary functional definitions were presented. Moving on, in the second part, the main research is described and analyzed. On the one hand, by means of an improvised questionnaire, the research focuses on the students’ ability to tell the difference between Lamarckism and Darwinism based on an incident taken from the Bible, as well as the difference between acquired and hereditary characteristics. On the other hand, an attempt to investigate their rudimentary knowledge regarding concepts of Genetics, such as the gene or DNA is made. Our principle aim is to complete the puzzle of the scientific knowledge of students’ population who has finished the compulsory nine year education and is no longer taught Biology in this type of Senior High School (Technical and Vocational school). At the end of the questionnaire, the participants are asked to express their satisfaction about the lesson of Biology as it was taught to them in the past, and say whether or not they would like to see Biology included in the school curriculum of the Technical and Vocational High school. The results of the research show very poor knowledge and generally a chaotic situation concerning the students’ awareness something which has already been pointed out in other researches carried out in Junior and Senior High schools, in Greece and other countries. Also, confusion about the same issues can be found among students and teachers all over the world. Finally, the discussion results in the necessity for a holistic and an ongoing approach to the problem. Moreover, it would be wise to take measures, regarding not only the inanimate means - books, analytical programmes, use of technology, informal education - but also the interface of all these with students, teachers and all those implicated in the process of learning.
