    • Η υλοποίηση της εντολής του Κυρίου μας Ιησού Χριστού: «ἀγαθοποιει̃τε καὶ δανίζετε μηδὲν ἀπελπίζοντες καὶ ἔσται ὁ μισθός ὑμω̃ν πολύς καὶ ἔσεσθε υἱοὶ ὑψίστου ὅτι αὐτός χρηστός ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀχαρίστους καὶ πονηρούς. Γίνεσθε οἰκτίρμονες καθὼς καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμω̃ν οἰκτίρμων ἐστίν» (Λουκ. 6:35-36). Οι έννοιες Ευεργετώ (κάνω καλό) και ευχαριστώ (χαρίζω καλό) είναι ταυτόσημες. Ο Χριστός αναφέρει: «Μακάριόν ἐστιν μα̃λλον διδόναι ἢ λαμβάνειν» (Πράξ. 20:35).Ο Ιησούς Χριστός μέσα από τις διδασκαλίες και κυρίως το παράδειγμά Του, στην επί γης παρουσία Του, έθεσε ως κεντρική ιδέα την αγάπη προς τον πλησίον και την αδελφική μέριμνα γι’ αυτόν. Κύρια εικόνα του χριστιανισμού είναι το έλεος του Ιησού Χριστού, «ἵνα ὑμεῖς τῇ ἐκείνου πτωχείᾳ πλουτήσητε» (Β΄ Κορ. 8:9), ο οποίος ενσαρκώθηκε, εν χρόνο, και υπέστη η ανθρώπινη φύση Του για μας θλίψη και ασθένειες προκειμένου να κερδίσουμε την κληρονομιά της Θεότητας, λέει ο Γρηγόριος Θεολόγος. Την στιγμή του Πάθους επάνω στον σταυρό ο Κύριος φτάνει στην ανώτατη έκφραση του ελέους και της φιλανθρωπίας μέσα από την προσευχή και το ενδιαφέρον Του για τους Σταυρωτές Του (Λουκ. 23:34). Επίσης μέσα από τα θαύματα που διέπραξε στην εν τη γη παρουσία Του και κατέγραψαν οι άγιοι Απόστολοι ιδιαίτερη θέση έχουν τα θαύματα που άμεσα συνδέονται με το θέμα της φιλανθρωπίας. Αναμφισβήτητα μεταξύ αυτών είναι σωρεία ιάσεων που διέπραξε σε ασθενείς, πονεμένους και ταλαιπωρημένους ανθρώπους, η θαυματουργική σίτιση χιλιάδων ανθρώπων, καθώς επίσης και το πρώτο θαύμα στο γάμο εν Κανά της Γαλιλαίας. Οι Καππαδόκες εφαρμόζοντας πιστά τη διδασκαλία του Κυρίου, μίλησαν στα κηρύγματά τους και στους λόγους τους για τη φιλανθρωπία και την τήρησαν στην πράξη και στην καθημερινότητά τους, δίνοντας αλάνθαστο και σταθερό παράδειγμα. Άλλωστε η πίστη δίχως έργα είναι νεκρή όπως και τα έργα δίχως πίστη.

The concepts Benefit (do good) and thank (give good) are identical. Christ declares, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall receive" (Acts 20:35). Jesus Christ, through His teachings and especially His example, in His earthly presence, set as his central idea the love of neighbor and the brotherly care for him. The main image of Christianity is the mercy of Jesus Christ, "To become spiritually rich in his poverty." (2 Cor. 8:9), who incarnated, in time, and suffered His human nature for us sorrow and sickness in order to gain the inheritance of the Deity, says Gregory the Theologian. At the moment of Passion on the cross, the Lord reaches the highest expression of mercy and charity through His prayer and concern for His Crucifixes (Luke 23:34).Also, through the miracles that he performed in His presence on earth and recorded by the holy Apostles, the miracles that are directly related to the subject of charity have a special place.Undoubtedly among these are heaps of cures he performed on sick, aching and afflicted people, the miraculous feeding of thousands of people, as well as the first miracle at the wedding in Cana, Galilee.The Cappadocians, faithfully applying the teachings of the Lord, spoke in their sermons and in their speeches about charity and observed it in their practice and in their daily life, setting an infallible and consistent example. After all, faith without works is as dead as works without faith.
