    • Υπάρχει έντονο ενδιαφέρον των μελετητών των οικονομικών της υγείας, για τις συνήθειες των ιατρών σχετικά με τις συνταγογραφήσεις και εάν προκύπτει προκλητή ζήτηση ή/και ηθικός κίνδυνος. Επειδή δεν υπάρχει επαρκής μελέτη για τις συνταγογραφικές συνήθειες διαγνωστικών εξετάσεων, η παρούσα μελέτη προσπαθεί να καλύψει το κενό αυτό, έστω σε τοπικό επίπεδο. Από την ανάλυση των δεδομένων, άλλοι παράγοντες δεν φαίνεται να παίζουν ρόλο (π.χ. φύλο), ενώ άλλοι φαίνεται να επηρεάζουν την ορθολογική συνταγογράφηση (π.χ. ηλικία και ειδικότητα). Σημαντική προσπάθεια αφιερώθηκε και στην ανάλυση της συνταγογράφησης ανά ειδικότητα, απ’ όπου προκύπτουν ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία.
    • There is an intense interest among health economists to better understand doctors’ prescribing habits and to determine whether these result in moral hazard and/or supplier-induced demand. Research in physicians’ prescribing habits relating to diagnostic tests is currently lacking; this study attempts to cover this gap , albeit focusing at a local level. Factors like doctors’ age, sex, and specialty were investigated and analyzed, as well as patients’ demographic data, as those could be significantly associated with the presence of moral hazard. Emphasis was placed on understanding the prescribing patterns as determined by the doctor’s specialty.
