    • Η παρούσα μελέτη έχει ως σκοπό να εξετάσει το αν η τρέχουσα οικονομική κρίση στην Ευρωζώνη έχει επηρεάσει την απόδοση των φαρμακευτικών εταιρειών τόσο στις ασθενέστερες (Ελλάδα, Πορτογαλία, Ιταλία, Ιρλανδία, Ισπανία) όσο και στις πιο δυνατές οικονομικά (Γερμανία, Αυστρία, Βέλγιο, Γαλλία, Ολλανδία) χώρες. Τα αποτελέσματα της μελέτης αποκαλύπτουν ότι η απόδοση της φαρμακευτικής βιομηχανίας στις χώρες του κέντρου κινείται παράλληλα με το οικονομικό κλίμα και εξαρτώνται άμεσα από χωρο-εξαρτώμενες μεταβλητές (country specific variables). To αυτό δεν φαίνεται να ισχύει για τις βιομηχανίες των χωρών της περιφέρειας.
    • The present study scopes in examining whether the recent crisis in Euro zone area impacted on the reported performance of listed pharmaceutical firms both in the countries with weak fiscal sustainability (Greece, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Spain) and the core Euro area countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands). The results support that the performance of the pharmaceutical industry at core countries during the crisis seem to strongly depend on country specific variables, while on the other hand our study revealed that the peripheral pharmaceutical industry do not move concurrently with the substantial economic climate.
