    • Σε μία περίοδο, που ισχυροποιείται διαρκώς ο διεθνή ανταγωνισμός και η τεχνολογία εξελίσσεται με ταχύτατο ρυθμό, όλο και περισσότερες διοικήσεις επιχειρήσεων χρησιμοποιούν την εφοδιαστική τους αλυσίδα ως “εργαλείο” για την βελτίωση των οικονομικών τους επιδόσεων. Τα logistics και τα Warehouse Management Systems αναλαμβάνουν σημαντικό βάρος για την μείωση του κόστους λειτουργίας και την βελτίωση της κερδοφορίας των εταιριών. Βασική επιδίωξη είναι η συσχέτιση των αποθεμάτων με την ζήτηση, τις πωλήσεις και την παραγωγή και πρωταρχικός στόχος η ελαχιστοποίηση των αδιάθετων αποθεμάτων. Στην εργασία αυτή εξετάζεται η διαχείριση της εφοδιαστικής αλυσίδας και η αναγκαιότητα των Warehouse Management Systems. Εντοπίζονται οι ιδιότητες, οι απαιτήσεις, τα χαρακτηριστικά αλλά και τα προβλήματα εφαρμογής τους. Αναλύεται η επίδραση της τεχνολογίας στην διαχείριση της εφοδιαστικής αλυσίδας και η μεταφορά της Αποθήκης στο internet, που μαζί με την ραγδαία ανάπτυξη του ηλεκτρονικού εμπορίου, διαμορφώνουν πλέον νέα δεδομένα για την άσκηση της επιχειρηmατικής δραστηριότητας. Στη εργασία εξετάζονται οι παράγοντες, με βάση τους οποίους διαμορφώνεται η στρατηγική των επιχειρήσεων(ζήτηση, διεθνοποιημένη αγορά, κ.λ.π) και αναλύεται διεξοδικά το “δίλημμα του outsourcing” και η συμπεριφορά, κυρίως, των μικρομεσαίων επιχειρήσεων, ενω ερευνάται η διασύνδεση του warehouse management με το outsourcing. Τέλος εξετάζεται η προοπτική του τομέα διαχείριση φορτίων στην Ελλάδα και η στρατηγική των επιχειρήσεων, μέσω της εμπειρίας της Rehau EPE, ελληνικής θυγατρικής της γερμανικής Rehau AG&CO.
    • The rapid development of technology has rendered Logistics and Warehouse Management systems useful as tools that exert a considerable influence on the fundamental financial sizes of enterprises. Technology has radically changed the role of the Warehouse and has rendered it a Center for the Supervision and Control of production and transportation of goods. Through the WMS, supplies can now be accurately controlled, supply shortage avoidance or the accumulation of unwanted supplies is ensured and the operational costs for some enterprise are reduced. On the other hand, the introduction of the WMS has certain disadvantages as well, since it requires high cost investments, time-consuming training for the staff and a possible software change in order for it to be compatible with the WMS. In any case, the supply chain is now placed at the heart of business strategy so that they can deal with the changes that technology causes for the market. E-commerce and the internet-based creation of a global market, without borders and limitations regarding competition, increases the burden for the supply chains, which must ensure the timely delivery of goods to the end customers. More often than not, supply chains judge the “battle” for competition when it comes to offering goods at lower prices. Many enterprises are trying to deal with these challenges using the Outsourcing option. By assigning the supply chain to third -party, they seek reduction for their operational costs and saving on staff expenses. The attitude of enterprises towards the issue of Third Party Logistics (3PL) is not homogeneous. Quite a lot of enterprises abstain from such assignment since they do not wish to lose part of their administration and pricing policy. In Greece, the course of cargo management sector during the financial crisis has been satisfactory something which has not been observed in the freight transport sector. Storage services are estimated at 59% of the entire value of a 3PL and exhibit a strong potential due to the expected more outward operations of the Greek economy and enterprises as well, after the end of the financial crisis. The conclusions of the current project are based upon the WMS application experience of Rehau MON. EPE, which operates in the heating-cooling market. The subsidiary of the German Rehau AG&CO has been operating the Warehouse in Greece since 1999 and has achieved significant economies of scale with the introduction and development of WMS.
