    • Τα Σχολεία Δεύτερης Ευκαιρίας (ΣΔΕ) αποτελούν δομή γενικής εκπαίδευσης ενηλίκων που δίνει τη δυνατότητα σε ενήλικες που δεν έχουν ολοκληρώσει την εννιάχρονη υποχρεωτική εκπαίδευση, να συνεχίσουν τις σπουδές τους και να αποκτήσουν απολυτήριο τίτλο ισότιμο του απολυτηρίου Γυμνασίου. Η διοίκηση των ΣΔΕ ασκείται από το διευθυντή, τον υποδιευθυντή, και το σύλλογο διδασκόντων. Η έρευνα αφορά στην εφαρμογή πολιτικών ενδυνάμωσης του εκπαιδευτικού προσωπικού των ΣΔΕ στο πλαίσιο των ακολούθων στρατηγικών: συμμετοχική διακυβέρνηση, δημιουργία κλίματος εμπιστοσύνης, δημιουργία υποστηρικτικών δομών, ενθάρρυνση αυτονομίας και καινοτομίας, επίδειξη προσωπικών χαρακτηριστικών, ενθάρρυνση εκπαιδευτικού πειραματισμού, αναγνώριση εκπαιδευτικού έργου, και υποβοήθηση επίλυσης προβλημάτων. Η μεθοδολογία της έρευνας περιλαμβάνει ένα δομημένο ερωτηματολόγιο που απευθύνεται στους εκπαιδευτές των ΣΔΕ και ένα ημι-δομημένο ερωτηματολόγιο που απευθύνεται στους διευθυντές των ΣΔΕ.
    • Second Chance Schools comprise a structure of adult education offering adults, who had dropped out of the nine-year compulsory education, a chance to continue their studies and attain a certificate equivalent to the one provided by standard middle schools of lower secondary education. The schools are managed by the principal, the assistant principal and the council of teachers. The purpose of the study is to research the empowerment practices applied by the principals in relation to the schools’ educational personnel. Researched empowerment strategies include sharing governance, building trust, creating support structures, encouraging autonomy and innovation, modeling personal characteristics, encouraging risk and reducing threat, valuing and rewarding good work, and helping solve problems. Research methodology includes primary quantitative research in Second Chance Schools with a structured questionnaire addressed to the schools’ teachers and a semi-structured questionnaire addressed to the principals.
