    • Η εργασία χρησιμοποιώντας το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο του στρατηγικού management, επιχειρεί να προσδιορίσει την ταυτότητα του ΝΑΤΟ και του ΕΟΑ μέσω της ιστορίας τους, του οράματος και της αποστολής τους καθώς και τις διαδικασίες του στρατηγικού σχεδιασμού/προγραμματισμού τους. Η μελέτη καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι ο στρατηγικός σχεδιασμός/προγραμματισμός και των δύο οργανισμών έχει σαφώς επηρεαστεί από την οικονομική κρίση και εισηγείται τις προϋποθέσεις που καθιστούν τους μηχανισμούς Smart defence και Pooling and Sharing ωφέλιμους για τα κράτη-μέλη. Τέλος, υπάρχει αναφορά στις προοπτικές εκμετάλλευσης των εν λόγω μηχανισμών από την Ελληνική αμυντική βιομηχανία, τα ερευνητικά κέντρα και από τις στρατιωτικές δομές της χώρας.
    • NATO and EDA are two organizations having as their major “product” the collective effort in the defence sector. The dissertation, using the strategic management theoretical framework, attempts to define the identity, the history the vision and mission and the strategic planning procedure of NATO and EDA. The study concludes that the strategic planning of both organizations has been profoundly affected by the economic crisis and suggests the prerequisites that make Smart Defence and Pooling and Sharing mechanisms beneficial to the member-states. Finally, there is a specific reference to the potential of the Hellenic defence sector, the R&D organizations and the military .
