Κύριος στόχος της παρούσης είναι να αναπτύξει μια βαθύτερη κατανόηση του ρόλου που μπορούν να διαδραματίσουν οι έλεγχοι κεφαλαίων (capital controls) στην ανάπτυξη των κρατών. Οι έλεγχοι κεφαλαίων συνήθως εφαρμόζονται για να αντιμετωπίσουν πιθανά προβλήματα σε οικονομίες που το χρηματοπιστωτικό τους σύστημα βρίσκεται σε κίνδυνο κατάρρευσης.
Η παρούσα πτυχιακή παρέχει μια λεπτομερή ανάλυση συγκεκριμένων περιπτώσεων κάποιων χωρών, προσπαθώντας να εντοπίσει τα οφέλη και το κόστος των ελέγχων κεφαλαίου.
The main purpose of this thesis is to develop a deeper understanding of the role of the capital controls in developing countries. Capital controls are usually applied to deal with volatile capital movements in savings when the financial system is in danger of collapse.
This thesis provides a detailed analysis of specific cases in some countries, trying to identify the benefits and costs of capital controls.
