    • Η διερεύνηση της λειτουργίας του ταμιευτήρα Ποταμών Ρεθύμνου, βασίζεται στα διαθέσιμα υδρολογικά και ποιοτικά δεδομένα, καθώς και σε απλά φυσικομαθηματικά προσομοιώματα. Τα αποτελέσματα της εργασίας δείχνουν ότι η εκτιμώμενη συγκέντρωση ολικού φωσφόρου στον ταμιευτήρα είναι μεγάλη, εάν συγκριθεί με τις συγκεντρώσεις φυσικών λιμνών της Ελλάδας. Παρόλα αυτά, η ποιότητα του αποθηκευμένου ύδατος δεν φαίνεται να έχει επηρεαστεί. Οι προοπτικές εξέλιξης του έργου είναι ευοίωνες για τα 2 από τα 3 σενάρια που εξετάστηκαν. Εάν όμως αλλάξει η διάρθρωση των καλλιεργειών με αντικατάστασή τους από απαιτητικές σε νερό καλλιέργειες, ο ταμιευτήρας φαίνεται να παρουσιάζει πρόβλημα κάλυψης των αρδευτικών αναγκών.
    • The operational exploration of the dam is based on the available hydrological and quality data of the relative authorities, as well as on simple physics-mathematical models. The results of the study show that the estimated total phosphorus concentration in the reservoir is judged to be great if compared with the natural lakes concentrations in Greece. However, the quality of the stored water does not seem to have been affected. The prospects for the development of the project are promising for 2 of the 3 scenarios examined. However, in the case of crop re-planning, meaning reducing the drought resistant crops and replaycing them with demanding crops in water, the dam seems to have a problem of meeting the needs.
