    • Έρευνες των τελευταίων ετών έχουν καταδείξει ότι οι ασθενείς με χρόνια καρδιακή ανεπάρκεια έχουν υψηλό επιπολασμό καταθλιπτικών συμπτωμάτων. Η κατάθλιψη συνδέεται με υψηλότερο κίνδυνο θανάτου και νοσηλείας σε σύγκριση με εκείνους χωρίς κατάθλιψη. Αυτά τα ευρήματα παραμένουν σταθερά στην πρόβλεψη κινδύνου για ασθενείς με καρδιακή ανεπάρκεια. Επίσης η προσθήκη της κατάθλιψης σε ένα προυπάρχον πρόβλημα υγείας επιβάρυνε τόσο την πρόγνωση όσο και την επανανοσηλεία των ασθενών. Οι παράγοντες κινδύνου είναι συγκεκριμένοι όπως και τα συμπτώματα και κλινική εικόνα αυτής της συννοσηρότητας. Η ποιότητα ζωής των ασθενών επηρεάζεται σημαντικά. Στις μέρες μας οι διάφορες μορφές θεραπείας και παρέμβαση (φαρμακευτική, γνωσιακή συμπεριφορική θεραπεία (CBT), άσκηση, κοινωνική στήριξη) έχουν σημαντικό και ιδιαίτερο ρόλο.
    • According to recent research, it has been observed that patients with chronic heart failure have a high prevalence of depressive symptoms. Depression is associated with a higher risk of death and hospitalization than those without depression. These findings remain unchanged after adjustment for the 10 most commonly used prognostic factors in the risk assessment for patients with heart failure. Also the addition of depression to a pre-existing health problem burdened both the prognosis and re-enumeration of the patients. Risk factors are specific as well as the symptoms and clinical picture of this coexistence. The quality of life of patients is significantly affected. Nowadays the different forms of treatment and intervention (pharmaceutical, CBT cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise, social support) have an important role.
