Η διπλωματική εργασία αναφέρεται στις εκπαιδευτικές εφαρμογές (apps) των smartphones. Καθώς το mobile learning εδραιώνεται σταδιάκα στον χώρο της εκπαίδευσης, τα εκπαιδευτικά apps και τα smartphones διεκδικούν ρόλο στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία. Όντας σε πρώιμο στάδιο η ένταξη τους στην τάξη, οι εκπαιδευτικοί πρέπει να αντιμετωπίσουν προκλήσεις που αφορούν τον τρόπο επιλογής και τη χρήση των apps. Παρουσιάζονται γενικά ποιοτικά και ποσοτικά στοιχεία που αφορούν τα apps και τα χαρακτηριστικά τους. Επίσης, προτείνονται τρόποι κατηγοριοποίησης με σκοπό το διαχωρισμό τους, η οποία θα βοηθήσει στην κατάλληλη επιλογή ανάλογα με τους μαθησιακούς τρόπους. Με στόχο για τη διασφάλιση της ποιότητας τους, αναφέρονται κριτήρια αξιολόγησης των apps. Τέλος, στο πρακτικό μέρος παρουσιάζεται η χρήση ενός εκπαιδευτικού app.
