    • The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the promotion and enhancement of cultural heritage with particular emphasis on museums. In recent years the way museums communicate with their audiences present their collections and shape visitors’ experiences has changed significantly, largely due to the rapid development of digital technologies. Among these technologies Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a powerful tool for improving visitor engagement, accessibility and cultural communication. Through digital applications, virtual tours, chatbots, interactive platforms and personalized cultural content recommendations, museums and other cultural organizations seek to expand their audiences and provide more meaningful and engaging experiences. This study examined how specific AI applications were implemented in the digital communication strategies of museums and the role they played in improving the museum visitors’ experience. A comparative case study was conducted involving the Acropolis Museum and Van Gogh Museum. Their official websites and social media accounts were analyzed to facilitate identification of AI tools used for the provision of digital services and their role in communicating with the visitors, improving accessibility, introducing and personalising cultural content and engaging the audience. The analysis aimed at identifying to what degree these museums have been able to adopt and integrate AI technologies with their digital strategies and approach to enriching cultural experience. The research adopted a mixed-methods approach. The qualitative aspect involved making comparisons between the digitization of the two Museums and the implementation of AI technologies in these museums, and the quantitative aspect entailed using a structured questionnaire to examine the reactions, acceptance, and attitudes of visitors to the use of Artificial Intelligence in museum settings. The results showed that Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a key instrument in improving communication between museums and their audiences, the experience of museum visitors, and the access to cultural heritage, as well as facilitating more personalized and inclusive cultural experiences.
