    • The dissertation examines the impact of geopolitical instability, trade restrictions, and supply chain disruptions on firms operating in the agricultural and livestock supplies sector in Greece. Emphasis is given on sourcing activities, operational resilience, risk management, and firm performance. The study focuses on the specific vulnerabilities of this highly import dependent sector, where firms are exposed to transportation disruptions, procurement uncertainty, rising costs, shortages, and reduced supply chain predictability. Drawing on the literature on geopolitical risk, supply chain resilience, and strategic adaptation, the research investigates how firms respond to geopolitical uncertainty through resilience-oriented strategies and risk management practices. Primary quantitative data were collected through a structured questionnaire from firms operating in the Greek agricultural and livestock supplies sector and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods, including regression analysis. The findings indicate that geopolitical risk and trade-related uncertainty are positively associated with supply chain disruptions, while supply chain disruptions are negatively associated with operational resilience and perceived firm performance. At the same time, the adoption of resilience-oriented strategies, including supplier diversification, alternative sourcing, inventory buffering, contingency planning, and supply chain monitoring, is positively associated with operational resilience and firm performance. Similarly, stronger risk management capabilities are associated with higher levels of organizational preparedness, adaptability, and operational continuity. Overall, the findings show the increasing importance of shifting from traditional efficiency and cost oriented supply chain models towards more flexible, resilient, and risk aware approaches. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing firm level empirical evidence from a relatively underexplored and highly import dependent sector in Greece, while also offering practical insights for managers seeking to strengthen supply chain resilience and maintain operational continuity under conditions of persistent geopolitical uncertainty.
