In the context of the preparation of the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis entitled: Investigating Blockchain Solutions to Optimize Supply Chain Operations in Retail, an attempt is made to present the architecture, integration and operation of blockchain in the retail supply chain. It is also analyzed how the application of this technology helps, provides and enhances transparency, security, efficiency and collaboration at all stages of the supply chain, with an emphasis on the traceability of products from their production to their placement on supermarket shelves. This makes the supply chain more resilient and risk-proof, as the system is secure, decentralized and seamless, providing a significant competitive advantage and confidence for businesses and consumers. It is proving to be not just a technological innovation, but a tool of strategic importance, already being implemented by leading global companies in transforming and reshaping their supply chains. It fully controls every piece of information and at every stage of its constituent path, moving goods and informationfrom the producer to the final consumer in a seamless and unmodifiable way.
Sixty (60) respondents from the same well-known retail company (case study) participated in the research, who responded anonymously to a twenty-five (25) questionnaire. These questionnaires were analyzed using the “thematic qualitative analysis” method.
