In recent years, technological advancements and widespread internet adoption have significantly transformed consumer purchasing behaviors. The rapid growth of e-commerce has introduced new demands in the final stage of product distribution: the last mile delivery, which involves transporting goods from centralized hubs directly to customers' doorsteps or retail locations. To meet these new demands, logistics providers have been compelled to enhance their operational infrastructure by integrating digital innovations to achieve greater efficiency. The objective of this study is to evaluate the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in Greece's last mile delivery process. This study investigates technologies such as IoT, AI, automation/robotics, big data analytics, and blockchain to determine their integration into Greece’s last mile delivery process. Framework analysis is employed to examine the level of implementation of these digital innovations and gather insights from Greece’s logistics providers. Utilizing a semi-structured questionnaire composed of open-ended questions, this thesis seeks to identify patterns in the integration of these emerging technologies and their anticipated effects. Additionally, this study explores the potential of Industry 4.0 in enhancing the last mile delivery process for logistics providers. In conclusion, considerations are made regarding the future of the last mile delivery process and the impact of digitalization.
