Στην παρούσα εργασία η απόπειρα ήταν να σχηματιστεί μια ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου μέσα από κριτικό βλέμμα. Σκοπός ήταν το Παρελθόν του Μουσείου να χρησιμεύσει ως μια εισαγωγή για την σημερινή του μορφή. Στη συνέχεια, εστιάζουμε στην πιο μεγάλη αλλαγή σε θεσμικό επίπεδο που έχει συμβεί από την ίδρυσή του, την μεταβολή του δηλαδή σε Νομικό Πρόσωπο Δημοσίου Δικαίου. Η εργασία ολοκληρώνεται με μια κριτική ανάλυση της προτειθέμενης επέκτασης, της διαδικασίας που έχει ακολουθηθεί και πρόκειται να ακολουθήσει, καθώς και ένας γενικότερος σχολιασμός σχετικά με το ιδεολογικό και πολιτικό υπόβαθρο όλων των παραπάνω, για τα οποία έγινε προσπάθεια να εξαχθούν συμπεράσματα μέσα από τις σκέψεις, εμπειρίες και απόψεις εργαζομένων του Μουσείου ύστερα από συνεντεύξεις μαζί τους.

In this paper our aim was to paint a comprehensive picture of the National Archaeological Museum of Greece. To achieve this, we first focused on the museum’s past so as to better understand how it was created and to serve as introduction to its current state. In the present, we focused on the most important change it has occurred to it since its creation, which was its change from part of the Archaeological Service, into a Public entity. Lastly, we undertook a critical analysis of the proposed extension of the current museum and redevelopment of the old building. Our aim was to illuminate possible ideological and political reasons behind the aforementioned changes. Lastly, the whole project was aimed to include as much as possible, the opinions of the people working in the Museum, so as to get a better understanding of how these changes have and will affect their daily lives.
