Τα αυτοανοσα νοσήματα εμφανίζουν μεγάλη έξαρση τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες και στην Ελλάδα. Πρόκειται για μια ομάδα νοσημάτων που χαρακτηρίζονται από μεγάλη ποικιλομορφία και εξατομίκευση. Οι βοηθοί φαρμακείου ως σύγχρονοι επαγγελματίες υγείας, έρχονται σε επαφή με αυξανόμενο αριθμό ασθενών με αυτοανοσία. Ο ρόλος ενός βοηθού φαρμακείου γίνεται όλο και πιο απαιτητικός, ανεβάζοντας τον πήχη των γνωστικών και κοινωνικών δεξιοτήτων. Οι σπουδές στην Ελλάδα, της ειδικότητας αυτής, κερδίζουν έδαφος την τελευταία δεκαετία.  Η παρούσα μελέτη, διερευνά τις γνώσεις και στάσεις των βοηθών φαρμακείου σχετικά με τα αυτοάνοσα νοσήματα. Πραγματοποιήθηκε μια ποιοτική έρευνα με ημιδομημένες συνεντεύξεις 16 βοηθών φαρμακείου που ανταποκρίνονταν στα απαιτούμενα κριτήρια επιλογής. Καταγράφηκαν οι γνώσεις πάνω σε παράγοντες εμφάνισης και έκβασης αυτοάνοσων νοσημάτων, τα χαρακτηριστικά της αυτοανοσίας και θεραπείες/φαρμακευτικά σκευάσματα. Επίσης, καταγραφήκαν οι στάσεις των βοηθών φαρμακείου πάνω στο στίγμα και την ποιότητα ζωής των ασθενών αυτών. Τέλος, διερευνήθηκε η πιθανή μεταβολή εξυπηρέτησης αυτών των ασθενών ως πελάτες ιδιωτικού φαρμακείου. Αποτελέσματα της μελέτης έδειξαν την αναλογία της επαγγελματικής εμπειρίας με των εμπλουτισμό των γνώσεων. Επίσης η ορατή αναπηρία επηρεάζει τις στάσεις των βοηθών φαρμακείου κατά την αλληλεπίδραση στον χώρο του φαρμακείου. Παρόμοιες έρευνες στην ίδια επαγγελματική ειδικότητα σε άλλες ομάδες νοσημάτων θα μπορούσαν να φανούν χρήσιμες.

Autoimmune diseases have been on the rise in recent decades. In Greece the situation follows the trend. The autoimmune diseases are characterised by great diversity and they can vary between each patient. Pharmacy assistants or pharmacy technicians, as modern healthcare professionals, come to contact with an increasing number of autoimmune patients. The role of a pharmacy assistant is becoming increasingly demanding, raising the bar of cognitive, knowledge and social skills. Pharmacy assistant degree programs, in Greece, are becoming more popular in the last decade. The present study investigates the knowledge and attitudes of pharmacy assistants regarding autoimmune diseases. A qualitative survey was conducted with semi-structured interviews of 16 pharmacy assistants who met the required selection criteria. The knowledge on the characteristics of autoimmunity, the triggering and development factors of autoimmune diseases and treatments were recorded. Also recorded, were the attitudes of the pharmacy assistants on stigma and the quality of life of these patients. Finally, the possible differences in the treatment and service offering of these patients, as clients of a community pharmacy, were investigated. Results of the study, indicated a strong correlation between the years of experience and the knowledge level. Visible disability also affects the attitudes of a pharmacy assistant when interacting inside the pharmacy. Similar investigations in the same professional specialty but regarding other diseases could be useful and insightful.
