Special education is designed for children with specular needs and aims at meeting the needs of students with a disability. Disabilities can be mild, moderate or severe. With special education students are able to function in school and they master additional skills which helps them to reach their full potential. Special education is particularly important since students who in other cases be excluded from education manage to acquire minimum skills and when they become adults they will possibly add to the existing labor force increasing in this way the labor capacity of an economy. Special educators who teach students with special needs should have additional skills compared to an average teacher since they deal on a daily basis with difficult cases. The objective of this dissertation, is to measure job satisfaction of special educators who work in general and special schools. Job satisfaction refers to the level of contentment an employee feels with his job. Job satisfaction is usually an essential requirement for higher productivity. According to the results of the study the vast majority of special educators derive job satisfaction within their working place and what really pleases them is the fact that they work with the examining type of students and that they find their job quite interesting. The factors that have the highest on their satisfaction are relations with colleagues and nature of work.
