  12. The freight forwarding and logistics sector is an important sector for the country's economy by it’s high contribution to the GDP. In this sector, there are a large number of companies that operate through the years either as transport agents or as fully providers and the competition is relatively intense. Despite the difficult economic situation in Greece over the last ten years, the sector has shown positive signs of maintaing its momentum.
    • Η οικονομική κρίση κατά την τελευταία δεκαετία που έχει εκδηλωθεί στην Ελλάδα έχει επηρεάσει αρκετούς τομείς της Ελληνικής οικονομίας από την βιομηχανική παραγωγή έως και στην κατανάλωση. Το δυσμενές οικονομικό κλίμα δεν έχει αφήσει ανεπηρέαστο και τον κλάδο των διαμεταφορών και logistics που έχει υποστεί διάφορες συνέπειες. Ωστόσο ο συγκεκριμένος κλάδος δείχνει ότι έχει επηρεαστεί λιγότερο σε σχέση με τους υπόλοιπους κλάδους και δείχνει σημάδια ανάκαμψης. Οι λόγοι που έχουν συντελέσει για την θετική αυτή εξέλιξη είναι οι αύξηση των εξαγωγών και η στρατηγική θέση της Ελλάδας ως εμπορευματική πύλη εισόδου της Ευρώπης. Σκοπός της παρούσας διατριβής είναι να αναλύσει τον κλάδο των διαμεταφορών και logistics στην Ελλάδα κατά την πρόσφατη οικονομική κρίση. Ο τομέας των εμπορευματικών μεταφορών και της εφοδιαστικής αλυσίδας είναι πολύ σημαντικός όχι μόνο για την συμβολή του στο ακαθάριστο εθνικό προϊόν (που είναι και ο τέταρτος οικονομικός πυλώνας) αλλά καταστεί την Ελλάδα ως έναν σημαντικό εμπορευματικό κόμβο. Η ζήτηση εμπορευματικών μεταφορών και υπηρεσιών logisticsς έχει αλλάξει τα τελευταία χρόνια και επηρεάζει σε μεγάλο βαθμό τις επιχειρήσεις που δραστηριοποιούνται στον κλάδο. Στην παρούσα εργασία, τα οικονομικά στοιχεία που αναλύθηκαν προέρχονται από τις δημοσιευμένες οικονομικές καταστάσεις 20 μεσαίων και μεγάλων εταιρειών του κλάδου για τα έτη από 2007 έως και 2017, οικονομικές εκθέσεις από την ICAP, Τειρεσία και επίσημα δημοσιευμένα στοιχεία ( ΦΕΚ ) . Τα στατιστικά στοιχεία για τη χώρα έχουν ληφθεί από τις ελληνικές και ευρωπαϊκές στατιστικές υπηρεσίες. Τέλος, παρουσιάζονται οι προοπτικές, τα προβλήματα και οι κίνδυνοι του συγκεκριμένου κλάδου.
    • The economic crisis over the last decade that has occurred in Greece has affected several sectors of the Greek economy from industrial production to domestic consumption. The unfavorable economic climate has also affected the freight forwarding and logistics industry. However, this sector shows that it has been less affected than the rest of the sectors and gradually shows signs of recovery. The reasons for this positive development are the increase in exports and the strategic position of Greece as a freight gateway to Europe. The purpose of this Dissertation is to analyze the freight forwarding and logistics sector in Greece and how it has performed during the recent economic crisis. The freight forwarding and logistics sector is very important not only to the contribution to gross national product ( as the fourth economic pillar ) but also to make Greece an international logistics hub. The demand for freight transport and logistics services has been changed in the last years which greatly affects the companies operating in the sector. The financial data analyzed are derived from the published financial statements of 20 medium and large companies of the sector for the years 2007 to 2017. The data sets are taken from various data sources such as , balance sheets , economic reports from ICAP, Teiresias, and FEK. Statistical data for the country will be taken from the Hellenic and European Statistical Agencies. At the end, the prospects, problems and risks of the sector are presented.
