Στην παρούσα εργασία καταδεικνύουμε το σημαντικό ρόλο της επικοινωνίας, που δίνει τη δυνατότητα σε ένα περιφερειακό & επιστημονικό μουσείο, όπως το Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας Απολιθωμένου Δάσους Λέσβου, να αποτελέσει μοχλό τοπικής ανάπτυξης & παράλληλα μέσω της διοργάνωσης της επιτυχούς έκθεσης ΑΙΓΑΙΟΝ:Η Γέννηση ενός Αρχιπελάγους, να προσελκύσει το εγχώριο, ευρωπαϊκό & διεθνές κοινό στα νησιά του Αιγαίου & στην Ελλάδα. Με τον τρόπο αυτό η έκθεση καθίσταται εργαλείο πολιτιστικής προβολής & τουριστικής προώθησης της Ελλάδας, των νησιών & της Λέσβου ανά τον κόσμο & σήμα κατατεθέν του Μουσείου. Με σκευή τη σημειολογική ανάλυση & με πλοηγό τις ημιδομημένες συνεντεύξεις με τους υπευθύνους της έκθεσης, επιχειρείται η αποκωδικοποίηση & ανάλυση των έκδηλων & υπόρρητων μηνυμάτων που κομίζει η έκθεση & η αφίσα-φωτογραφία μέσω της οποίας προβάλλεται και γνωστοποιείται η έκθεση στο εκάστοτε κοινό & ιχνηλατείται ο τρόπος αντίδρασης των θεατών/επισκεπτών αυτής. Επίσης διερευνάται πόσο αποτελεσματική είναι η επικοινωνία του Μουσείου με το κοινό & ο βαθμός πρόσληψης των μηνυμάτων από αυτό, καθώς και η σημασία αυτού στην τοπική ανάπτυξη.
Ιn this thesis we demonstrate the important role of communication, which enables a regional scientific museum such as the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, to be a lever of local development through the organization of the successful exhibition AEGEAN:The Birth of an Archipelago. This exhibition attracts the domestic, European and international audience to the Aegean islands and to Greece, thus becoming a tool of cultural and tourist promotion of Greece, the islands, Lesvos all over the world as well as a trademark of the Museum.
With the use of semiotic analysis and with the aid of the semi-structured interviews with the exhibitors an attempt is made to decode and analyze the clear and hidden messages of theexhibition and the poster-photos, which the exhibition has on display. We also make an attempt to communicate with the relevant public and to trace the viewers’ reaction. Finally, we study how effective the Museum’s communication with the public is, how accessible its messages are, and how important it is for the local development.
