    • In this study we try to locate the air pollutants in the centre of Athens based on the measurements of the station network. In particular we examined the station of Patisia, taking into account different spots. From 1995 to 2002 the main pollutants observed were nitrogen oxides (nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen monoxide). Carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and ozone remained at relatively low levels. From 1995 to 2002, cars reduced very little, about 15%. Nitrogen oxides pollutants have experienced various fluctuations over these years. Significantly, passenger cars using gasoline 1.4-2.0 as well as conventional two-wheelers have contributed significantly. To a much lesser extent, Euro 3 lightweight vehicles contribute. Calculations of the contribution of each vehicle to gaseous pollution were made on the basis of the European Environmental Agency.
