    • Ως αγροτικά απόβλητα ορίζονται τα κατάλοιπα των γεωργικών, όπως και των κτηνοτροφικών εκμεταλλεύσεων. Συγκεκριμένα γεωργικά απόβλητα είναι τα υπολείμματα των καλλιεργειών, τα υπολείμματα βιομηχανιών που αφορούν τη γεωργία, η κλάδευση και τα αγροχημικά απόβλητα. Κτηνοτροφικά απόβλητα θεωρούνται τα απόβλητα ενσταβλισμένης κτηνοτροφίας από βουστάσια, χοιροστάσια, πτηνοτροφεία και σφαγεία. Τα γεωργικά και κτηνοτροφικά απόβλητα αποτελούν σημαντικότατο περιβαλλοντικό πρόβλημα στις αγροτικές περιοχές της Ελλάδας, καθώς η εσφαλμένη διαχείρισή τους έχει ως αποτέλεσμα την πρόκληση μόλυνσης και ρύπανσης του περιβάλλοντος (ποτάμια, λίμνες, θάλασσα, υπόγεια ύδατα). Η σωστή διαχείριση αποβλήτων προϋποθέτει αρχικά την καταγραφή της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης στην περιοχή μελέτης. Στην συγκεκριμένη εργασία περιοχή μελέτης αποτελεί ο νομός Έβρου. Αρχικά, παρατίθεται το σχετικό νομοθετικό πλαίσιο που είναι σε ισχύ στην Ελλάδα, όσον αφορά την ορθολογική διαχείριση των αγροτικών αποβλήτων, και την αντίστοιχη νομοθεσία σχετικά με το περιβάλλον που ισχύει στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζεται η σύσταση και οι δυνατότητες αξιοποίησης των κτηνοτροφικών και γεωργικών αποβλήτων. Ακολούθως, παρουσιάζεται η περιοχή μελέτης (νομός Έβρου) και η καταγραφή της υφιστάμενης παραγωγής γεωργικών και κτηνοτροφικών αποβλήτων στην περιοχή. Τέλος, παρουσιάζονται οι δυνατοί τρόποι αξιοποίησης τους. Συγκεκριμένα, μελετάται η δυνατότητα κατασκευής μονάδας βιοαερίου και κομποστοποίησης και αναλύονται τα προσδόκιμα οφέλη αυτών στην τοπική, καθώς και στην ευρύτερη κοινωνία.
    • The agricultural wastes are the residues of agricultural and livestock farms. Specifically, agricultural wastes are the crop residues, prunings, crop harvests from farmer plots and agrochemical wastes. Livestock wastes called the intensive livestock wastes from cows, poultry farms, pig farms and slaughterhouses Agricultural and livestock waste is a major environmental problem in the agricultural regions of our country, as their unreasonable management can create environmental pollution problems in rivers, lakes, seas and underground water. The waste management initially requires the recording of the current situation in the study area. In this thesis, study area is the prefecture of Evros. Initially, the legislative framework that complies with the European directives and concerns the rational and sustainable management of agricultural waste in Greece is briefly presented. Next, it is presented the composition of agricultural and livestock wastes in general and the possibilities for their utilization and reuse. The following is the description of the prefecture of Evros and the analysis of the qualitative composition and quantity of its agricultural waste. Finally, the possible ways to exploit them are presented. Specifically, the possibility of building a biogas and composting plant is being studied and is analyzed their benefits in local and wider society. Innovation This thesis sets out specific objectives for the management of agricultural wastes, according to the received data on the quantities of agricultural waste generated in the Evros region and the development the appropriate ways for their observation and collection for recovery and reuse them. Also, monitoring and collection of plastic packaging of agrochemicals (fertilizers, pesticides) is occurred and proposed their environmental management. In addition, the production of organic fertilizers and soil improvers (compost) from agricultural products (cotton, sugar beet) is being studied. Research Method The survey is carried out in the prefecture of Evros. The data are collected by official local and national coorprations (e.g. Hellenic Statistical Office, Ministry of Rural Development and Food, District of Peloponnese, local ward), recorded and evaluated. It is being investigated the possibility of installing a biogas and compost plant in the area and the benefits they can offer. Through the research it will draw useful conclusions that will help significantly in the cyclical economy of the region as well as the increased protection of the environment.
