    • Εξαιτίας της πρόσφατης οικονομικής κρίσης 2007 – 2008 σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο τα ψηφιακά νομίσματα βρήκαν πρόσφορο έδαφος και πλέον αποτελούν μια νέα εναλλακτική μορφή χρήματος. Ο κύριος σκοπός των ψηφιακών νομισμάτων είναι να εφαρμόσουν όλες τις λειτουργίες των επίσημων νομισμάτων. Τα νέα αυτά ψηφιακά νομίσματα και κυρίως το Bitcoin το οποίο μελετά η παρούσα εργασία δεν εξαρτώνται από πρόσωπα ή τραπεζικά ιδρύματα ή από κάποια κρατική αρχή. Η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη σκοπεύει να διερευνήσει ποιες είναι οι αιτίες δημιουργίας των ψηφιακών νομισμάτων και το κατά πόσο τα ψηφιακά νομίσματα μπορούν να αντικαταστήσουν τα εθνικά επιτυχώς. Επιπλέον, παρουσιάζονται τα ψηφιακά νομίσματα δίνοντας έμφαση στο «φαινόμενο» Bitcoin, περιγράφεται η ιστορία του χρήματος, οι μορφές και οι λειτουργίες του. Βέβαια αναφορά θα γίνει στη χρηματοπιστωτική κρίση που έπληξε την παγκόσμια οικονομία και πως όλο αυτό ήταν η βάση δημιουργίας των ψηφιακών νομισμάτων. Παράλληλα θα αναφερθούμε στον ορισμό των κρυπτονομισμάτων την απήχηση που έχει στον κόσμο, στις επιχειρήσεις και στα κράτη. Επικεντρώνοντας στο κρυπτονόμισμα Bitcoin θα αναλύσουμε τα πλεονεκτήματα, τις ευκαιρίες βελτίωσης και τα μειονεκτήματα του. Όσον αφορά το ερευνητικό μέρος κρίθηκε απαραίτητη η σύνταξη ενός ειδικά διαμορφωμένου ερωτηματολογίου. Η μέθοδος συλλογής των δεδομένων βασίζεται σε απλή τυχαία δειγματοληψία. Η έρευνα διεξήχθη στην Ελλάδα και ο γενικός πληθυσμός του δείγματος προσεγγίστηκε μέσω διαδικτύου με τη μέθοδο αποστολής της ηλεκτρονικής φόρμας του ερωτηματολογίου μέσω διαφόρων σελίδων κοινωνικής δικτύωσης και μέσω ηλεκτρονικού εμπορίου. Τέλος, ακολουθούν τα συμπεράσματα και κάποιες μελλοντικές προτάσεις σχετικά με το Bitcoin, καθώς τα ψηφιακά νομίσματα κερδίζουν συνεχώς μεγαλύτερη δυναμική και σταθεροποιούνται στην σύγχρονη πραγματικότητα.
    • At the hands of the recent global financial crisis 2007 - 2008, the digital currencies have found “fertile” ground in the financial background. Anymore, these are regarded as a new alternative form of funds in order to perform all the functions of official currencies. These new digital coins, and especially Bitcoin, which will be studied in this master thesis, are not dependent on any person or group of people or a state authority. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate what are the causes of the digital coins’ creation and how much these can successfully replace the national currencies. The pages followed there is a thorough analysis of the digital coins with particular emphasis on Bitcoins. Also, there is described the history of money, its forms and its functions. Furthermore, the work is occupied with the financial crisis that crippled the worldwide economy and how this was the springboard for the creation of digital coins. While, the paper alludes to the definition of cryptography as well as to their resonance beyond the people, businesses and states. Emphasizing on the Bitcoin phenomenon, we will analyze its strengths, opportunities for improvement and its demerits. For the research part, there was considered necessary the composition of a specifically formulated questionnaire. The method of collecting data is based on simple random sampling. The survey was conducted in Greece and the general population of the sample was approached from the internet by the method of the consignment of the questionnaire online form through the various social networking pages and via e-mail. Finally, there follows the conclusions by making a quick summing-up of the efforts for this research as well as some proposals for future research on Bitcoin, as the digital coins are constantly gaining momentum and stabilize in the modern reality.
