|Title:||Aquaculture industry in Greece: History, current status and future opportunities|
|Abstract:||This study examine the evolution of Greek aquaculture, starting from the late 50's with extensive aquaculture. Until the 1980s, data on all types of aquaculture is listed, and the marine aquaculture (seabream, sea bass) is emphasized after the 1990s. The main result of this study is that in recent years marine production in Greece shows decrease tendency, also regarding competition. In the short term, increases in production and sector’s growth are expected. In order to satisfy the 2014 National Strategic Plan for Aquaculture, need investment in the development of the industry and a successful production of a new species|
